Clover Clayville Warehouse Racking Project

Universal Storage Systems started with the racking portion of the project last year in August 2010 and ended in March 2011. The project involved the re-use of existing and installation of new Universal Storage Systems racking to be fitted to the extension of the existing chiller, now Clovers biggest Chiller in S .A. and installation of a new warehouse and drive In Racking System to a newly built ambient section.

The re-use of older racking is not always recommended however in this case due to many years of ongoing maintenance of the Existing Universal Storage Systems racking to ensure the minimum standards and tolerances are adhered to the re-use of existing racking kept the bottom line down and enabled us to re-certify the product. We always advise our clients to be careful when maintenance is done to make sure the equipment stays within the original manufacturer's ref to web page with second hand equipment article specification and in this instance it has paid off big dividends for the client.

The Racking within the ambient stores was installed to a height of 9144mm high to the top of the frame and stores five levels of 1200kg pallets containing non alcoholic liquid beverages. With two pallets per level a total weight of 9600kg's per bay.

The drive in racking was fitted with only two levels to enable preparation of pallets to be loaded for trucks. This enables the loading of pre-picked stock per pallet on the truck with each truck having a nominated loading Lane from the drive in racking of approximately 30 pallets per truck per lane. This has dramatically increased the loading and turnaround time of transportation and loading capabilities.

All work done was carried out in accordance to SEMA (Steel Equipment Manufacturing Association) Codes of practice and also Signed off by an independent engineering firm to ensure all racking supplied was kept to the quality and standard provided and expected by Clover SA. This was a very standard installation Compared to the Rack Clad building we are currently building In Meadow dale which will be a staggering 30m's High.
